Lexington SC Schools Are Open Again Lexington SC Schools are scheduled to open their doors to students this week. Summer for area Lexington SC students is almost over and children and parents are getting ready to return to school day schedules. Students in the Batesburg-Leesville area will be the first to return, starting back on August 17 followed by Lexington 4 schools in the Swansea-Gaston area on August 18th. Most other Lexington District One and Lexington District Two schools will get started on August 19 with some Irmo SC and Chapin SC schools starting on August 20. There are no new schools scheduled to be opened this year, but work is progressing on some new projects for the coming years. Here's to everyone having a safe school year !

The heat has hit in Lexington SC and in the Greater Columbia, SC area. This means temperatures are in the 90's and people all over are looking for some things to do to stay out of the heat. Coming up this weekend, The State Museum will host Nightime at the State Museum. You will be able to watch the new museum movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, and venture into the darkened galleries on flashlight tours. Contact the museum directly for information. There is also a Family night this Friday night at the Columbia Museum of Art. The YMCA and the Columbia Museum of Art have teamed up to host Family Fun Night at the museum. From 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, kids can explore the galleries, create their own art and watch interactive performances. Enjoy these activities if you can and stay cool!
